Default Difference between amateurs and pros

A pro will take a camera, none of which are perfect for all jobs, and get the shot. An amateur will buy everything in sight, then complain that none are perfect and fail to get the shot.

Posturing, and ignoring the many advanced amateur photographers who
consistently get good photographs, for their own use or for family and
friends.

Any amateur who is good, will get offered money for taking pictures, you don't even need to look for it. They become a pro when they take the first job. If you haven't been offered money as an amatuer, then you are probably not very good.

Only if he asks for money.

People who see what you have done always have need for a photog. Weddings,
portraits, all kinds of things. They'll ask you. You probably couldn't make
a career out of the occasionally offered job, but you will get asked.

When you won't be a pro. The word professional means that you are making
a living out that craft that you consider yourself being a pro of.
