Default long Exposure Photography

Hi

I'm trying to get information on long exposures, mostly in terms of
hours not minutes. I'm thinking here of the work of Atta Kim or
Sugimoto.

I know one can use ND Filters etc, but how can one make long exposures
without filters.

Any comments woule really be appreciated

Thanks
Slug

I should have added that "noise" during long exposures is a problem,
especially if you are talking about hours. I suggest you check on astro
photography as they do a lot of long exposure stuff with digital.

This is a digital photography newsgroup. You might get a few flames.

First of all, be sure your particular Pentax 6x7 has the feature that lets
you bypass the battery for B, otherwise the battery will expire during a
long exposure.

A pinhole over the lens just makes a pinhole camera. You don't need the
lens. Just put a very small pinhole body cap on it.

What do you have against ND filters?

A lot of Astro photography on CCD now relies on fairly short exposures and
some "clever" adding techniques for images, rather than very long
individual exposures, due mainly to CCD's not being terribly good at long
exposures.
