Default nikkor lenses

What are 'G' type Nikkor zoom lenses? I can't find any reference to them on
the Nikon site but they appearing in some current special deals.

G Type lenses are the new type that do not have an aperture ring, it is
adjusted via the camera body. They only work on the newer bodies.
