Expect the frothing morons to leap in about now and tell you a single optical disc will last for hundreds of years. B |

Hi How Stable Is DVD+R Compared To CD-R and is it wise to back up such a = large amount of data on one disk =20 =20 Don't bet the farm on advice from others who partake in character assasinations, ie. referring to others as morons, idiots, dumbfcks etc., because it takes one to know one. As far as your question, longevity of either is dependent on it's = storage and handling. Assuming you took very good care of either type, the DVD will still outlast the CD because there are physical differences that by = nature make it more resilient. As far as your second question, making at least two backups on two truely different brands of DVD are about as wise as you can get when staying within the confine of optical discs without cartridge = protection. mark_ |
