Hi
How Stable Is DVD+R Compared To CD-R and is it wise to back up such a large
amount of data on one disk

No. DEspite what the frothing morons here might try to tell you, back
it up onto /at least/ two disks of different types, make sure they're
of high-quality ( not nasty cheap unbranded ) types, keep them in
sensible storage conditionns in different locations and *regularly
check both of them* to see that they're still readable.

Expect the frothing morons to leap in about now and tell you a single
optical disc will last for hundreds of years.

Don't bet the farm on advice from others who partake in character
assasinations, ie. referring to others as morons, idiots, dumbfcks etc.,
because it takes one to know one.
As far as your question, longevity of either is dependent on it's =
storage
and handling. Assuming you took very good care of either type, the DVD
will still outlast the CD because there are physical differences that by =
nature
make it more resilient.
As far as your second question, making at least two backups on two
truely different brands of DVD are about as wise as you can get when
staying within the confine of optical discs without cartridge =
protection.
