Pentax 67 ... ?
Art Reitsch writes:
I bought a Pentax 67 with 105mm lens on eBay. No camera manual. I loaded film into it, rolled the film forward and pressed the shutter release: Whap. The camera then froze: no more film advance or shutter release. Looking into the camera without the lens, it appears the mirror lock up function locked the mirror up. It could be you just ran out of battery! If it runs out of battery, the mirror might not come down and the shutter won't fire. Two questions. How did that happen? And, more importantly, how do I unlock it so the camera works? With a fresh battery, try pushing the small "mirror release" button near to the mirror lock-up switch with a pencil. Or try firing the shutter again. I'm ordering a manual for the camera but it would be nice to work with it a bit before the manual arrives. The Pentax USA site has the manual available for download, though it's a pretty bad scan and some of the images are all black. |

Thanks for any help. Art Dead battery, as others have mentioned. If you ever want to fire the shutter with no film in the camera, the easiest way is to open the back, advance the frame counter to a non-zero value with the little knurled knob that sticks out the top, hold it there, and close the back. Pentax 67 is a wonderful system. Enjoy. Laura Halliday VE7LDH "Que les nuages soient notre Grid: CN89mg pied a terre..." ICBM: 49 16.05 N 122 56.92 W - Hospital/Shafte |
