I was going to wait a year and get an 8080 (or 9090?), but I'm
seriously considering the 7070 (depending upon the actual reviews) as a
replacement for my 5050.

Can't tell if it's bigger than the 5050 and would be really interested
if it took the FL-20 in a UW housing like the 5060 can.

Well, I'm not THAT keen on the C-7070. The C-5050 is becoming a bit of
a cult camera; It lacks the wide angle, but the lens is really a lot
brighter than the C-5060 or C-7070. My argument for the C-7070 is that
in order for Oly to keep selling cameras they need to keep up with the
times. I personally wouldn't spend that much on what would actually
be, IMO, a minor upgrade to a working C-5050. The "C-9090", OTOH.....
a 10X IS zoom on a C-8080 (??? I can dream, can't I?)..... sigh.....

I saw in the press release at dpreview.com that they're planning a new
underwater case, the PT-027, good to 40m (130 ft). Seems funny, if the
C-7070's goint to be that similar to the C-5060, that it'd need a new
housing.

If were're dreaming: 10X IS zoom (1.8 at the wide end), 1/250th flash
sync, bulb, wireless TTL flash, predictive autofocus, and about the
size of the 5050 - but without the whole
unprotected-lens-sticking-way-out-of-the-body-thing.

Oly keeps cranking up the version numbers but have they addressed
problems with acquiring focus lock and hot weather CCD noise? It seems
like the same old C series. I'm interested in seeing the tests later on.
