Default manual head alignment on i9900

OK, what do they mean in the manual for the i9900 when they say select
the most even, least irregular patterns after printing the alignment
page. What am I supposed to be looking for?

No banding in each patch. I use a loup to view them, and print them on
high quality paper, if not photo paper. Choose the smoothest patch in
each column, so that, hopefully, there will be no banding on your actual
photos.
