Exactly, which is in opposition to how it works on your computer(s) where
all content on your Dropbox repository is automatically synced down to the
hard drive of your computer(s). I.e. if you add a file from a computer or
an iOS device, it will be automatically downloaded to all your computers,
but not all your iOS devices (and presumably none of your Android devices
either).

Android!!!
In this household we are taking Mac, MBP, iPad, iPhone x2.

The one Android device I owned (a Motorola phone) has long since gone
to join the choir invisible.

doesn't matter if it's android or ios.

with rare exception, dropbox on mobile devices is not automatic.

...er, WHOOSH!

what whoosh?

it doesn't matter if it's android or not.

dropbox on mobile devices works a little differently than dropbox on a
laptop or desktop.

as i said originally, not automatic.

You do understand that my response to Sandman was tongue in cheek, and
a statement on MY equipment serviced by Dropbox, don't you?

I don't need a lesson on how DB works. I have pretty much got that handled.

not if you're stuck using a sigma product.

It's a good flash and at the time it was the only flash I could get
which would suit my 15mm macro.

Ahem! 105mm macro.

that did seem a bit short.

Just afterwards, Nikon brought out
their R1 Wireless Close-Up Speedlight System. I couldn't wait.

sigma flashes don't properly support nikon's ittl.

This one was compatible up to the D2. However there has been
considerable development of i-TTL since then and the flash doesn't
know anything about this. Not that this matters to me.

sounds like d-ttl, not i-ttl.

It seems to do both, depending upon what it is connected to. Here is a
relevant page from the manual:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...ash%20Page.jpg

sigma only supports part of i-ttl, not all of it.

As I have already said, i-TTL has advanced since theis flash was
built. Nevertheless, it suits me.

you can still use it in manual or automatic modes.

however, if you use it in non-ittl, it might be fine.

It is.

ok

Don't be cruel. It's a good example of thoroughly intuitive software.
I mean to say, it has to be intuitive: there is no obvious logic at
all to many parts of it. :-)

what parts have no logic?

itunes is very buggy, with many of those bugs having been there for
years and show no signs of being fixed, but other than that it's
reasonably well designed.

Them aren't bugs: them are features.

a lack of intuitiveness is *not* one of its shortfalls.

Notif you have been with it for years.

no, them are bugs. very clearly bugs.

a lack of intuitiveness is *not* one of its shortfalls.

i've been using itunes since before it was itunes.

it's fairly intuitive and vastly easier than dealing with zillions of
files. it's not perfect (nothing is) but it sure beats the
alternatives.

what specifically are you not finding intuitive?

Various parts: I can't be bothered trying to describe them. Most of it
is centred around navigation. Compared with the usual interfaces we
encounter, it's like a maze. Until you learn it, you aren't quite sure
where you have come from, where you are, or where you are going. Parts
of it are easy but I often find that I'm stuck in 'A' with no clear
idea of how to get to 'B'.

Never mind. That's not a discussion for this news group.

i'm really curious what you find confusing, because it's very clear
where you are and what you're looking at.

Never mind. That's not a discussion for this news group.

neither is most of the stuff that gets discussed here.

OK! I don't have a problem moving files between my desktop and my
iDevices (iPhone & iPad).

i didn't say anyone had problems doing that.

I am just curious as to what you mean by what
you said above; "syncing is not automatic for Dropbox on the iPad due
to limited space there".

the opposite of automatic is manual.

with dropbox on an ipad (and other mobile devices), you have to
manually initiate the download yourself. it will *not* happen
automatically (at least initially - later updates might in some cases).

this is due to space constraints and also bandwidth constraints. you
could easily fill an ipad and/or burn up your data allotment without
even realizing it by doing nothing more than dragging files into your
dropbox folder on a desktop computer. that would be bad.

With Dropbox as I use it, retains all uploaded files on their server
not the iDevice,

it can be on both.

they are only opened in a selected app via the "Open
In" Dropbox option.

many of them can be read within dropbox, including pdfs, however, it
may not be the ideal app for it.

There is no syncing at all regardless of space,
limited or not.

in other words, manual.

this is different than a laptop or desktop computer, where syncing is
automatic. drag a file into the dropbox folder on one and it shows up
on the other.

I have an unusual iPhone. I make a change iwhat am I doing wrong?n
Dropbox on my computer, and almost instantly view it on my iPhone.

Strange. I have Dropbox installed in my iPhone, and its works well. Why
wouldn't it work on an iPad.

it does work. read what i wrote again:
another way is to use the dropbox app...

Sorry, I thought you said something about Dropbox not syncching
automatically.

i did say that.

Did you meant to say something else?

nope.

i meant what i said and it's exactly correct. read it again, this time
slowly, studying each word.

Was that a thought oh, or a typo?

neither one.

are you going to admit you are confused or will this turn into another
endless thread? i'd like to know in advance.

No

that wasn't a yes/no question, which tells me you are very confused,
exactly as i thought.

Oh!
