replacing it with something much better.

It was easy to
share albums either publicly (most of them) or with only those people to
whom you've given the password. You could see captions easily,
slideshows, EXIF info etc. Google photos is just UGLY and difficult to
work with. I want to see more photos on a single screen, but I can't
have that.

nonsense. google photos is much easier to use.

Are there any free sites that you guys like that will suck in the albums
(maybe 100 or so) from google photos ? The "suck in albums" thing is
pretty much essential since I just store all my photos (thousands) in a
single subdirectory on my HD in chronological order
(filename=filedate+time).

then you need google photos or similar to manage it.

of course it is. not only is it easier but it does things picasa never
could do.

I don't want to do those. I especially do not want to see my photos
3/line so I have to do a lot of scrolling (which I despise) to get to
where I want to be. I blame the proliferation of phones for a lot of
web-degradation, including this. Google is just pandering to its
customer base, but that doesn't make it any nicer.

you can view as many or as few photos as you want in any layout you
want.

well, other people can. for some ****ed up reason, you always have
trouble doing even the simplest things and blame everyone else for your
inability.
