Refrigerating Li-ion batteries
In article , Mxsmanic wrote: I've read that the life expectancy of lithium-ion rechargeable batteries can be extended if they are kept cool, so I've thought that it might be a good idea to keep them in the fridge when I'm not using them. Anyone have experience with this, and any comments on whether it seems to extend or reduce total battery life? My understanding is that the shelf life of Li-Ion cells (whether used or not) is limited by a rise in internal resistance over time, and refrigeration does not prevent that. Do you prefer to store them charged or uncharged? Store at 40% - 60% full charge (depending on chemistry). |
