When I was much younger and had more curiosity than sense, I climbed
into the crater of Mt. Vesuvius. I wanted to see what it looked like. I
only had Kodachrome in my camera, so i couldn't get any pictures. When
the smell of sulfur started to get to me, i climbed out as fast as I
could. I understand that now there are barricades.

I was out there a couple of years ago, and they had a large section of
the rim road around Kiluea closed due to fumes. Well, yes, someone
decided to drive around the barricade and while they were rescued,
they all spend a few days in the hospital and paid a hefty fine.
Morons.
