Pfft! This section is a current history of American and Canadian companies. Basically not fixed, but stripped to the bone by vulture "private equity": -After the unceremonious departure from HP, Mr. Clarke became something of a corporate mechanic, shaping up companies with layoffs and other cost-cutting, and working closely with private equity and venture investors. Tough choice. Company going downhill will probably bee out of business within a year. Private equity comes in to take a risk, 25% layoffs within a year. Of IO am going to place my money on a risky venture, I want a big upside, and a major say in operations. No investor with any sense is going to give money to proven incompetents.
