Default Prentent pictures via DVD player on TV?

Is there software that will allow one to create a DVD to present still
pictures from a digital camera from a DVD player on the television? Im
hoping there is software that will takes .gifs and organize them and burn a
DVD that can be played in a television DVD player and allow a presentation
of the pictures to be managed by using the DVD player/remote.

thank you for any insight!

There are quite a few programs that will burn "DVD Slide Shows".
If you have already got DVD Authoring/Burning software, it might support dvd
slide shows.
Nero Vision Express is the one I use to burn a DVD Slide Show,
http://www.nero.com/eng/index.html but if you do a search for "dvd slide
show" you might find some freeware or shareware that will do it.

I agree that there are many commercial, as well as shareware DVD
authoring programs, and typically, one is included on the disc that
comes with a computer DVD burner. For still pictures, there is
usually an option to create either a movie or a slideshow. It might
not be the best software, but it doesn't hurt to first try the one
that you already paid for. Some of those programs can add audio to
accompany the images. If your computer has a microphone attached to a
sound card, you can record a narration that describes the pictures.

However, there is an alternative. Most of the newer stand-alone DVD
players (the kind you called a "television DVD player") can read both
CDs and DVDs that were burned in computer data format and contain Jpeg
files. If you normally store the photos you take with your digital
camera to that kind of media, you probably already have some of those
discs. The DVD player's remote control can be used to navigate
through various directories/folders if you organized the files that
way. Of course, different models of DVD player have some restrictions
on file size, and even medium size files below the limits are
sometimes displayed as if they were images with fewer pixels, IOW less
sharply than you expected.

You mentioned Gif files. I don't know of any DVD player that can read
a Gif file directly, but nearly all camera files are Jpeg anyway. In
any case, if you have Gifs that you want to show, you can convert
them to Jpeg on the computer, then burn them to a new data disc to use
on the DVD player.

As far as a presentation is concerned, some DVD players also have a
built-in slide show option, but it isn't as fancy as a DVD slideshow
created with an authoring program, and you have to use the DVD remote
to set it up each time you turn the player on. Speaking of setup, I
have a DVD player that can even play an Mp3 file (if it's on the same
disc) as background music during the slideshow.

OTOH, some DVD player menus are such a pain to use that you might want
to avoid it and author a DVD with a computer so it will just run on
the player as a movie and therefore require *less* interaction from
the people watching it.

My Philips DVD player does it without special software. If I burn a simple data
DVD with jpegs, etc. on it, it will do its own slideshow.

You can try the DVD Slideshow Builder which is very powerful and very
popular now, many friends and I like it very much. It's very easy to
create a customized DVD slide show with photos and videos, and I can
add music, transitions, and motion effects and make beautiful DVD
menus. To be important, it has great photo and video editing function
that can meet all our needs. And it is easy to crop music to sync with
slideshow. Also, we can create .mp4, .wmv, .avi, .3gp movies from
videos in other formats for our iPod, Zune and 3GP Cell Phones,
Youtube .etc.

You can download it free here

If you have a legal version of windows XP, you can get a free program,
Microsoft Photo Story 3 for Windows XP. It can do some basic
functions.

Hope this helps!
