I was walking in the park yesterday and was able to snap this guy sitting on
a rock. Using my new 30D

Can anyone identify him ? and any comments welcome

That's a moth, not a butterfly. If no one here can identify it, you
definitely will get the answer in sci.bio.entomology.lepidoptera

Sorry Don,even a kid knows that the picture is of a butterfly. Moths have
comb antenna.

Probably a pipevine swallowtail butterfly. ID based upon swallowtail
wing shape and iridescent blue hind wings.

That is a spilotical amorphous butterfly, commonly found on the shores of
Lake Titicaca.

Actually, this old science teacher is gonna chime in that it is
definitely not a moth--the wire-like antennae are a butterfly
trait--moths' are fuzzy!
