Dave Gorman on Flickr
Today's Guardian Online has a story about a (British, I guess)
comedian named Dave Gorman who is also an avid amateur photographer. The story tells of his romance with Flickr, the photo display site, and the warm response he's received to his many postings there. Some of the shots are quite spectacular and, since he's well-travelled, they cover a wide spectrum of locations. The URL, if you're interested, is: http://technology.guardian.co.uk/opi...731355,00.html But since it's a story in a daily online newspaper it will probably disappear quickly. -- Ron |

Andrew McP Yeah, read a couple of books, slight chuckles, usually when he refers to other people obviously wanting to punch him in the mouth for being so impertinent. -- Paul (This is really happening, happening) ------------------------------------------------------- Stop and Look http://www.geocities.com/dreamst8me/ |

Dave has admitted on his website that he probably won't go back to doing stand-up and I'd say that's an indication of his not being a straight belly laugh kind of guy. He's more normal, more like you and I, though has resources to get from A to B etc which we probably don't have, plus nerves of steel! I think I have probably laughed more at, say, Eddie Izzard or Billy Connoly in five minutes than I have ever laughed at Dave Gorman's entire output. But that's not to say he isn't amusing. -- Paul (This is really happening, happening) ------------------------------------------------------- Stop and Look http://www.geocities.com/dreamst8me/ |

Gorman's approach is enjoyable, but different. He tackles a specific subject in a comedic style; he makes humorous documentaries rather than has a funny act. Maybe it's a fine distinction, but I think Gorman's humour isn't at the core of his work. Andrew McP It's a curiosity killed the cat thing, isn't it? Setting a challenge then going out and doing it? reminds me a lot of tony Hawks, though I think Hawks is slightly more amusing http://www.tony-hawks.com/ -- Paul (This is really happening, happening) ------------------------------------------------------- Stop and Look http://www.geocities.com/dreamst8me/ |
