Default NYTimes Dec 9

Hold on to your view cameras! Apparently the NYTimes and national security
interests have discovered large format. See the Times for the article:
"Tome Swift's New Camera, Ready for Space and Skies".

Here's a link but you may need an I.D. and it's probably only available for
3 days.

A 9x18 homemade banquet camera. Forward into the past.

Is this supposed to be something new? Like the govm't is
interested because of the resolution? And precision?
There's no precision in this thing!

A Gigapixel? So what! The front page of the NYT is image
set at 2200 DPI = for a 17x22" paper this comes to 1.5
Gigapixels.

If you want resolution get a surveillance camera. An old
WWII Fairchild, fer instance. But if you are the govm't
I imagine one would have access to all sorts of whizzy optics.

A 14x18 $25 surplus process camera would work better: 3000 DPI
at 14x18 = 2.27 Gigapixel.

The only thing this clown must have is a silver tongue and
a hell of a PR flack. And a naive idiot for a NYT reporter.
