Iris not working on a 1.4 Canon FD lens - any ideas

Just wondering if there is a fix to this problem? I have tried the
aperature lever in several positions to see if this help. Nothing. I
cannot see the iris closing at all, no matter whihc lever I push. Any
ideaS?

It needs to be taken apart and cleaned and lubed. You should know what
you are doing before trying this.

Have you tried this "on camera" as well as off? Some lens designs default
to max. aperture at all times when off the camera, unless you "trick" the
lens into thinking it's mounted. Playing around with my 35/2 FD I cannot
get it to stop down off camera unless I play with the coupling a bit.

Before I can help I need more information.

Is this a breech lok model or the newer bayonet?

Which model Canon are you using?

Is the lens on or off the camera?
