The lens and the sensor are sold together so each sensor has the straight jacket of that lens and vice-versa. So what happens when you tire of the 8 Mpix sensor .... you lose that lens as well. Wasteful. The commodity part body, storage, etc. is the least valuable part in the long term. If there is a module that needs replace-ability it is the sensor itself with its dedicated processor. The rest (exposure control, af, storage, main body with controls, display, batteries, and so on) is pretty much the same model to model. |
