enlarge in Camera Raw or CC-- which is better?
I use CC regularly and usually do my enlargements via detail
preservation within CC, but Raw offers options to enlarge as well which is something I don't often consider. So, which method is better and why? |

In ACR or Lightroom (LR uses the ACR engine) you can only crop to a specific aspect ratio, neither one has a resize feature. In Photoshop you can crop to size, &/or aspect ratio or you can resize using the current algorithm, which is pretty good. The one caveat is to use a bit of common sense when it comes to the amount of "Enlargement" you have in mind. For most sensible enlargements using the menu Image-Image Size you should see the Image Size dialog with a preview window. Fill in data as required. If you intend to enlarge from a severe crop, or to make a truly massive enlargement, then it would probably be best to use a specialty plug-in such as On1 Software's Perfect Resize. That can work as a plug-in for PS or LR, and as a stand-alone application. It can be bought as a single app, but the most value is in th entire On1 Suite. http://www.on1.com/products/resize9/ -- Regards, Savageduck |
