Hi All,

I've uploaded my tests of the 400D for IR photography using a Hoya R72
filter:

Cheers,

Wayne

Wayne-

Can you explain why you chose the green channel for your sample photos
at the end?

It seems clear to me that your red channel had the greatest sensitivity
to IR, it was just over exposed. Naturally it won't make as good a
print as the other channels because of the overexposure.

If you exposed for the red channel instead of the green, your exposure
times might not be as long.

I don't know about Wayne, but the most common reason for favouring the
green channel is that there are twice as many pixels used in the green
channel with Bayer sensors.

I would have went with the blue. To each his own.

Hi Fred,

What you say is true, though exposing for the red channel would have
probably only gained me a stop in shutter speed. Still a tripod job.

Since I was testing the camera I wanted to see the spread in exposure
across the channels. If I was shooting IR with the 400D all the time I
would be more careful to exposure for the red channel.

Cheers,

Wayne
