Default Question on speed of memory cards for cameras................

I see at Best Buy and some of the other stores having memory cards
with no writing speed rating on them.

So then I go to Ritz or Wolf Camera and they carry memory cards that
are of course of different speeds and prices.

I wonder if this is a scam and the speed really does not matter or if
it is something to consider?

I ask this as I do not see speed labels in a Circuit City or Best Buy
of recent.

Thank you
Patty

If using CompactFlash (CF) cards, this is a good reference:
