Default Worst [non-color] aliasing?

I'm thinking about how a good image down-scaler should look like. The
info I'm missing is how the eye is sensitive to aliasing. So I need
to do some experiments, and I need to know which kinds of
images/patterns/textures lead to most egregious-looking aliasing.

Let me stress that, at this moment, I'm not interested in
color-aliasing (which is the artefact of Bayer-filter sensors). So
could you please report only texture aliasing with B&W digital
sensors, or Foveon sensors, or (most important) aliasing which appears
when down-sizing fine-looking images (with not-so-smart algorithms).

Alternatively, if somebody already did this research (what contrast on
which spacial frequencies [relative to Nyquist] is relevant), I would
be very grateful if people share the references.

Thanks,
Ilya
