I'm always struck by how tiny we really are when I see these images, and remember that there are gozillions of these galaxies... A great capture and technique. I haven't the slightest idea how this is done...but good stuff. -- Images (Plus Snaps & Grabs) by MarkČ at: www.pbase.com/markuson |

I read a little on his technique, and it centers on the use of a positioning device to aim the cam at the exact same point in the sky, and hold it REALLY steady over a long period of time. The exposure time was dependent on time of night, cloud conditions, etc. The resulting 12 images were then "stacked" in Photoshop and combined into a single image. This takes a lot of patience! Funny, some of the comments by others seem to sound a little blaise... Whatever; I was pretty impressed with the shot. -- Images (Plus Snaps & Grabs) by MarkČ at: www.pbase.com/markuson |

Perhaps their reaction is skewed by the fact that most folks have seen galaxy shots taken by Hubble and others... and may fail to realize how amazing it is for someone to do these shots not only from Earth, but with their own little set-up and DSLR. That...is pretty impressive. -- Images (Plus Snaps & Grabs) by MarkČ at: www.pbase.com/markuson |

Huuuge difference!" :-) But, yes, a fantastic photo. -- The National Institutes of Health reported Monday that giving money to worthy causes stimulates exactly the same area of the brain that sex does. That explains why Bill Clinton does so much charity work. It's another way of cheating on Hillary. |
