Can Photoshop 7 edit 16-bit/channel images?
I currently have Photoshop 6 and when I try to edit a 16-bit/channel image,
it won't let me do simply things, like apply filters. It says it's not supported with 16-bit images. Can you do all editing on a 16-bit image in PS 7? Neal |

So is CS currently the top version of Photoshop? I'd find that surprising,
considering it's only $150. Neal "Bill Hilton" wrote in message ... You can even do masking if you know the tricks. V7 had a bit more support for 16 bit than V6 did but not much. The normal way of working with 16 bit files with these versions is to make your global color and tonal corrections at 16 bit and then change the mode to 8 bit for local color and tonal changes. CS has much better 16 bit support, including Layers and Adjustment Layers, but still doesn't offer full 16 bit support on many of the filters. A lot of the filters were written as 8 bit by other companies and purchased by Adobe years ago and I doubt there are any plans to re-write them. Bill |

Even the upgrade (assuming one is not a thief) is more than $150! I am sure you can find it cheaper than that if you do not care about piracy. I am sure one can find it for free. |

Uh, then is the upgrade only $150? I went to Adobe's site and now I
understand that CS is like Photoshop 8. I had been thinking it was like the older Photoshop LE. Neal "ZONED!" wrote in message ...
