As Steve Jobs probably should have said: "A sucker is born every minute, and they all want to be entertained." Apple, the publishers missed out on a huge opportunity, to provide books cheap because they could, electronically. No huge production costs, no major storage costs, no transportation fees. They could have cut the average book price by 1/2 and it would have exposed an entire new economic demographic to book sales. But they didn't, they went for the quick buck by charging for electronic books about what they've charged for printed, hard-bound and soft-bound books. Your solution ot that is not to purchase anything you think is overpriced. If enough people agree with you, the price will come down. The price is set by the market. -- PeterN |
