No doubt the focusing screen. The best thing to do with a camera body,
film or digital is to keep the dust out. Failing to do that, send it
to a camera guy to clean it. My N90s focusing screen, mirror and view
finder are pristine because I NEVER cleaned them. My D70s is still clean
because I try my best to keep dust out. My Nikon F has two scratched
screens and a scratch in the mirror, because, one I change screens, and
two I tried to clean the mirror. Best leave the guts to a specialist.
Send the thing to Nikon to have them change the screen or ignore it. I
have succesfully ignored the Nikon F issues for years.

I was cleaning the sensor of my D50 when I somehow managed to scratch
the glass directly above it which ( I think) is the viewfinder. I still
dont know how this happened, but but it happened. Now, when I look
through the viewfinder, I can see those marks clearly, but they DO NOT
appear on the picture that the camera takes, which is a HUGE relief.

Does anyone know how what I can do to fix this, how serious teh damage
will be and what t might cost to fix it? Since this does not impact the
pictures, I am in no hurry, but I do feel uneasy knowing that my
beautiful toy is damaged,

Thanks!
