Shoot the thing in RAW and deal with it later. Back in the olden days
I had to shoot it on film and then deal with it in the darkroom.... man
no tools in the camera beyond exposure mode.
The reason I own DSLR is because I can't deal with an electronic view
finder or screen in the field.. brightness issues, too small to really
tell anything other than gross exposure errors or gross composition
errors. I went to a wedding recently and the "official" photog spent so much
time looking at each shot on the screen, he missed half the wedding..
rather than keeping is eye on the view finder and the wedding catching
all those precious moments. Trust your technique and the equipment. If
you can't do that, find another hobby.

I should say that it is not possible and still get the performance of
an SLR. Once you start using an electronic viewfinder then you
introduce the time lag to process that image in the viewfinder.

I don't know what the hell is wrong with these people. You've got a
viewfinder that shows you what the lens is seeing and they're not
happy unless they have a little TV on the back that does the same
thing. Jeez people, get a clue.

Well, there are a number of elements which might help with correct
exposure (live histogram, for example) which it would be useful to have
superimposed on an optical finder, and there are some occasions where a
swivel LCD or EVF (or optical, except they mostly don't swivel), or
waist-level LCD would make composition of the image easier.
