There isn’t enough foil in the World to deal with that problem.

I use both Skype and FaceTime to speak to friends, and family around the
USA,

international calls. If you are concerned about what the camera might reveal
of your squalor, you have the option of just using either app for voice only
calls.

His better solution would be for him to invest in a green screen

Why Mar-a-Lago when the Guggenheim could provide him with this throne?

I'm really saddened that you feel that way. :-(

I've never done anything to cause you harm.

The beauty of Usenet (well, the 'alt' groups anyway') is that there ARE
no rules with which one has to comply. Of course you can have your
opinion but I'm also free to express mine too.

FWIW, I use a small piece of aluminium baking foil folded over the top
of my iMacs which can easiliy be slid to one side when access to my
camera is required.

Oki! :-))

Nothing to do with any govenrment we all know it's aliens, that's where
the all the ice goes from the ice caps, aliens are stealing our ice to
take to their planet where they have shortage of ice. They access our
cameras to see if we have any secret ice stocks they can plunder
without us knowing.

That would be in that crystal bucket in you "cabinet", right? Whatever!

Don’t you get it? You come across as an extreme kook, and most of us
don’t need extreme kookiness in our lives.

I've never done anything to cause you harm.

With your cross posting into unrelated NGs drawing in folks with no interest
in r.p.d., and infecting everything with your AV/malware obsession you have
caused untolled harm to all of us who do not want to endure the disruption
you bring to otherwise somewhat pleasant NGs. I don’t come here to endure
your paranoia.

The beauty of Usenet (well, the 'alt' groups anyway') is that there ARE
no rules with which one has to comply. Of course you can have your
opinion but I'm also free to express mine too.

....and if you stayed on topic for this NG that would be fine, but you insist
on reverting to your old obsession, along with cross posting. For what it is
worth I have given you the benefit of doubt a few times, and you don’t seem
to be able to help yourself, so ultimately no good deed goes unpunished. All
it takes is one or two benign, seemingly sincere posts and then you are back
to your old M.O., and that reinforces everything other say about you.

FWIW, I use a small piece of aluminium baking foil folded over the top
of my iMacs which can easiliy be slid to one side when access to my
camera is required.

Sheesh!

Aha! So you won't get beat up after all...

The level of arrogance among these tech people is getting almost
scary.

People might end up using it as one of those cheap car driving cameras.

You have the right to take photographs in public but not to put up
surveillance cams, I'd say that Google glass and clips are in that
category since you can't see when they are in operation. Big brother
sees you, and how do you know if these devices are off, really?

The first thing I did with my new laptop was to put silver ducting
tape over the camera and microphone. THEN I turned it on.

Eventually, yes!

And not necessarily a long wait.

I don't know hat you guys are doing. The last time I had to repair
Windows was in the days of Windows 2000. Since then it's been a
substantially smooth ride apart from the frequent changes in the user
interface.

I might have been exaggerating. The last time I had to repair Windows
was 3 long days ago. And it's been about a month since I had to reset
all of my audio settings to get any sound. But that is a monthly
thing, so I can't really complain.

We obviously use our PC's in different ways. And admittedly, it's not
necessarily Windows itself with some issues, but I think Windows
should better handle problems that pop up with mainstream software,
instead of just locking up. If I can't even kill a process, I blame
Windows for that.

I think you're also forgetting that Spyder issue you had, and the file
permissions issues.
