The Yashica-MAT 124G Lives!

And lots more on what technology they are trying to push..... Yes, but when they talk about pixel count and detail quality gained, I think of how few of my slides can benefit from 5400 pixel per inch scans, and why I bothered to buy a 5400 scanner. [...] Let's - unrealistically - assume half that: 3,800 pixels (scan) vs 2,000 (HDTV). Impossible to reproduce the same detail using "High Definition" (compared to old fashioned) TV. And that's compared to 35 mm format. So why are they saying that? New Technology = fresh markets = more money = worth pushing. Magazines need their advertisers. So they will push anything they are asked to. |

I have only seen images projected using the old VGA projectors. These are very poor compared to a projected slide. They lack contrast caused by a poor "black level". The also lack resolution. "Black level" shouild be much better on the new HDTV projectors.....they say. So it could be interresting to see how good they are. I think that a projected 35mm slide was/were the only area where digital could not compete. |

Actually I just decided against that idea, I don't believe in the mechanics of it and so I sold it to Mark Hama in Georgia... going to find an old Rolleicord. -- })))* Giant_Alex cravdraa_at-yahoo_dot-com not my site: http://www.e-sword.net/ |

An image captured with a Yashica-MAT 124G won 2nd place in Popular Photography's August 2007 Your Best Shot. My 124G is in regular use and it's nice to know others appreciate its capacity to capture beautiful images. I have a Yashica-mat LM that I bring out 1-2 times a year just for fun. The meter no longer works, but it's in otherwise great condition. |
