Funny use of pro Nikon on TV show, "Mr. Mercedes"

Lady in a car is shooting surveillance photos of a house. She raises the
Nikon and it emits the familiar shutter sounds. The flash is up, but no flash
emits. Then as she's lowering it, you can see by the top LCD panel the camera

a clue by posting an image of the scene, or at the barest minimum name the
movie, or TV show in question. So WTF were you watching?

As to some sort of answer to your mystery question, if what you have
described was indeed a motion picture, or TV show scenario, consider that it
might be reasonable to assume the production team thought that they might get
98% of those viewing your scene to suspend belief for the duration of the
show, and not question the feasibility of what they had witnessed.
Unfortunately it seems that you managed to find a continuity error because
some studio prop person failed to ensure a prop camera was turned on.
