Focus Magic
Anyone here familiar with Acclaim Software's Focus magic? Can it make
an image taken with a Canon 70-300 USM IS look like it was taken with L glass? Also, is Focus Magic to be used in addition to or instead of unsharp mask? |

No, because the L-glass image can also be post-processed with Focus Magic or others. Also, is Focus Magic to be used in addition to or instead of unsharp mask? Instead of. There are also other algorithms that will help to recover from diffraction/focus/motion blur issues. It depends on your skill level and budget to decide on the best one suited. Bart |

Also, is Focus Magic to be used in addition to or instead of unsharp mask? 2 types of off-focus. 1 can be easiely corrected, the other almost never. Sharp photos which are blured by movement can benefit from removing the motion image which makes it look soft. Photos which are plain out of focus don't have the sharpness detail recorded in the first place so these are almost impossible to fix. Another thing you might consider is that although the 70 -300 lens is a pain to focus from close to far, it's sharpness of images is quite good. If you consistantly get out of focus images and it's only this lens. Maybe it's time to get it checked out. If you get out of focus stuff with any lens, get the camera checked out. |
