differences in paper grades

Last night, I printed a negative with the remaining sheets of Agfa MCC 312 I had left. The prints came out just great using no filtration. I decided to make a FB print of one with some of the new Oriental FB paper. I've gotten good results in the past with this paper. However I had to keep cranking up the contrast...requiring a 3.5 Polycontrast filter! This seems like a huge difference in contrast. I would expect at most a grade difference. Is this normal? I still haven't gotten around to trying the Oriental but there was often a significant difference in contrast between Polymax II RC and Galerie. One full grade in fact. John |
