Yeah, sure.

And exactly what is the evil.

He wants to steal.

Probably, but why. What would he do with the stolen software.

If this development does anything, it prevents illicit video recording
(theft) of digital presentations, such as shown on big screens displays
at concerts or major sports events.

There is also a move away from film projector use in movie theaters to
full digital projection. The old 35mm movie is going away. If this
Apple patent is implemented with those systems the handheld movie-house
bootleggers are out of business.

It also can be seen as a possible defense against industrial, or more
conventional espionage where clandestine photography or videos come
into play.

My head was thinking software protection.

Would make sense if most of the movie piracy wasn't abetted by the people
who own the theatres who take bribes to allow the illegal video-taping of
movies.

You're talking about the writer of that article, right? I don't post
in MAC forums.

It's "Mac"; "MAC" is an acronym for other things.
He was referring to you, btw, but you knew that.

You capitalize the word like you think Apple is some kind of God.

I don't believe movie house owners, would take bribes and risk losing
the right to show popular releases. I believe if you read the fine
print in the contracts those owners have signed there would be a clause
addressing just that, and they would also be facing criminal & civil
liability issues.
There might be some employees who take bribes to facilitate such
taping, but this proposed Apple system would throw a wrench into those
illegal activities.

Mac, be it iMac, MacBook is just an Apple computer, usually capitalized.

MAC is "Media Access Control" as in MAC address.

A mackintosh is that rubberized raincoat sometimes termed a "mac",
which developed into the noire trench coat, or an apple (fruit) type
from which the Apple computer derives is name.

Or used to prevent recording of illegal or embarrassing activities.

I don't believe that would work too well.
