"They dropped both phones onto their back. As you can imagine,
the iPhone's glass back did not hold up well, shattering in this phase
of the testing.

Conversely, the Galaxy S20 came up basically unmarked.

Next, both phones were dropped onto their corner. The iPhone took a
narrow victory here, but both phones performed well.

Finally, the phones were dropped onto their front. Both phone's screens
cracked, the iPhone considerably more, however, both continued to
function.

As a result, *PhoneBuff awarded the Galaxy S20 the victory*"

I don't know anything about the Samsung product, but the camera in the
11 Pro or Pro Max is superb in all respects for its size. Notable is
the seamless zoom from the widest angle lens to the narrowest lens plus
digital zoom to 10X. I've yet to really test it at night.

And of course I almost always have it with me.

And it shoots very good video too.

As to iPhone/iOS integration with my other computers, faggetaboutit.
Samsung are in the dark ages.

Apple is brilliant at selling the mere _illusion_ of functionality.
o Yet, the facts show Apple iPhones rarely anywhere near the top.

The good news is DXOMark pretty much tests most of the iPhone cameras.
o 7th place Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max
o 21st place Apple iPhone 11
o 23rd place Apple iPhone XS Max
o 30th place Apple iPhone XR
o 37th place Apple iPhone X
o 43rd place Apple iPhone 8 Plus
o 54th place Apple iPhone 7 Plus
o 69th place Apple iPhone 6
o 75th place Apple iPhone 5s

By contrast, my $130 LG Stylo 3 Plus & $100 Moto G7 phablets aren't tested!
https://www.dxomark.com/category/mobile-reviews/

For reference, here's the first ten cameras as of today's DXOMark reports:
o 1 Oppo Find X2 Pro [124]
o 2 Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro [124]
o 3 Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G [123]
o 4 Honor V30 Pro [122]

functionality for all things Apple, iPhone cameras don't generally come out
all that well (considering the immense weight of the brilliant marketing).

With respect to camera quality of results...

The good news is that DXOMark seems to test all smartphone "flagships"
o Which means most (if not almost all) the iPhone models are well tested.

The bad news is that my "budget" $100 8-core 64GB 4GB RAM Moto G7 phablet
isn't even tested (although they did test the Motorola Moto G7 Plus [80]
which barely beat out the Apple iPhone 6 [73] & Apple iPhone 5s [68].

That makes the good news for iPhone owners that the super expensive iPhones
clearly easily beat out my $100 budget phone on camera quality of result.
https://i.postimg.cc/136096sR/motog700.jpg

However, one ameliorating factor, it is said in the news media, is that the
freeware port of Google GCam from the Pixel to the Motorola G7 greatly
improves camera quality of results, where I'm happy with that Gcam APK.

See details he
o Changing the camera app can remarkably improve your photo quality (but why?)

To people who like the idea of functionality.

Back in the last century, enormous hifi systems that sported lots of
hefty control knobs were what sold bigtime, regardless of what (if
anything) these actually did that was useful.

Nothing ever really changes that much. It's not a new book, just
another chapter.

Apple specializes in selling the mere _illusion_ of functionality.

Apple sells the "ll" of hi-fi systems to people who are desperate to
believe that the "11" is better than the "10" on the other systems.

Back in the last century, enormous hifi systems that sported lots of
hefty control knobs were what sold bigtime, regardless of what (if
anything) these actually did that was useful.

How is automatic phone recording not useful?
How is setting up a desktop the way you want not useful?
How is debugging your wifi signal strength not useful?
How is backing up any IPA at any time for any device not useful?
(You do not want me to even _begin_ listing what iOS can't do!)

The number of useful things Apple iOS iPhones _can't_ do is enormous.
o Is there any software functionality in the new iPhone 11 that
isn't already in an average 5-year old Android phone?
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/misc.phone.mobile.iphone/1D2Sgdlz1-I/6KRWyuETBAAJ

It's not limited to lack of functional software either...
o Q: Is there any functional hardware on iPhones not ALREADY on Android?
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/misc.phone.mobile.iphone/kr6zFELHkBk/F49Q-ISoAQAJ

Essentially, Apple software functionality is severely lacking in so many
ways that we started one thread at 100 things Android does that iOS can't
do.

Nothing ever really changes that much. It's not a new book, just
another chapter.

I've studied Apple MARKETING and concluded they know their customer well:
o What is the most brilliant marketing move Apple ever made?
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/misc.phone.mobile.iphone/wW-fu0jsvAU/iUMbvDSxAwAJ

Essentially, Apple caters to those who desperately want to _feel_ safe.
o And, these customers desperately want to _feel_ stylish.

They also desperately want to _feel_ their camera QOR is "the best".
o Yet, anyone who knows facts - knows that's just marketing glossy claims.

With respect to camera quality of results, the facts are clearly thus:
o *7th place* Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max
o *21st place* Apple iPhone 11
o *23rd place* Apple iPhone XS Max
o *30th place* Apple iPhone XR
o *37th place* Apple iPhone X
o *43rd place* Apple iPhone 8 Plus
o *54th place* Apple iPhone 7 Plus
o *69th place* Apple iPhone 6
o *75th place* Apple iPhone 5s

Those are simply the facts, which most Apple owners can't/won't comprehend.

Digital zooming is trash, always has been. But the average phone person is too dull to use enlargement software.

1) Learn to contain your hyperbole.
2) Learn to read: I was referring to the seamlessness of the zoom. Not
the image quality.
3) There is nothing about enlargement software that can correct for
physics whether located on the device or elsewhere.

That said, on the iPhone 11 Pro, the digital zoom is not "trash". That
is not to say it's DSLR quality either.
