Default Looking for a shop in NYC

Hi,

I'll be in NYC next saturday, and I need to buy some 35 mm films (in
particular, slide : Kodak E100VS and film : Ilford HP5 or Kodak Tri-X).

Do you have any address around Time Square area ?

BTW, I am also interested in a good address to buy some Leica R equipment
(second hand). Cheap, of course ....

Thanks a lot for any help you can give me,

Kresna

All over the place. 9th avenue has a little place called B&H. But they are
closed Friday after 14:00 and closed Saturday... open at 10:00 on Sunday til 17:00.

B&H at 420 9th Avenue (between West 34th and W 35th).
Check their website and call ahead

less than 2 km walk from Times Square.

Cheap? Not likely. Check site and call ahead for used equipment.

Closed on Saturdays.

I'm pretty sure B&H is closed on Saturdays. But I would think
you could pretty much walk into any camera shop in NYC and get
E100 or HP5+ or Tri-X. It's that way in Bawlmer...

City Tax. In NYC is Obscene. You are much better off having items shipped.
Also many camera stores in the city are closed on Sat. for the Sabbath

B and H is a Disneyland for camera fans. it's worth a visit just for
that. they are closed on Saturday and they close early on Friday for
the Jewish Sabbath. I have found there prices to be very competitive
except when it comes to NYC sales tax of 8.75%. For big ticket items
use the Internet.

Be careful of the small electronics/camera stores in the times square
area....Perhaps they are OK for buying film, but don't buy anything
else...They specialize in cheating people, especially tourists........And
check the expiration dates on all the film they try to sell you........

Thanks to all

Ok. I didn't know it would be closed on saturday.
I'll try to buy some films here but unfortunately, it is more and more
difficult (even in Paris) to get some HP5 or "pro" film as many shops
focuses their market on numeric cameras.

It is still possible by internet, but shipping would take too much time now.

I have another question : do you know if in the US airports, the X-ray
machine are still ok for film up to 400 ISO ?
I 've heard that some machines (even for hand bagages) had their intensity
increased after 9/11 events, and that could be problematic even for medium
speed films.

Is that right ? or is it only a rumor ?

Signs at O'Hare say ok to ISO 1000. Take it for what that's worth.
