THIS is why I've always hated Adobe
So I decide to download the free CC trial of LR and PS. I realized
that I was getting LR5, but figured I could just update later (the next day, in fact). Anyway, to get things going, you have to first download & install the Creative Cloud Desktop app. But as always, the klutzy Adobe software takes over. First everything disappears, then dialogue boxes start popping up telling me to close this or that, and when I close what I was told to close, everything goes away, and I have to start all over again. And then after the app is installed, I double click it, and nothing happens. I discover, though, that if I right click and then choose "run as administrator", it will open. I finally get LR and PS installed and running, but now every time I open either one, the CC app opens and tells me I have 30 days left on my trial. So I click "continue trial", and the app freezes. Every ****ing time. So now the Windows message comes up telling me that CC app has stopped responding, and I tell it to close the program. Thankfully, it closes, and PS and LR will run properly. But now I want LR 6, and as I should have expected, it's the same ridiculous crap. I click "check for updates", and a box pops up telling me there is an update available. So I click "download", and it takes me to a web page with one sentence on it that tells me to close LR, launch the CC app, and click "install". But of course I can't do that, because all the CC app shows is LR5, and that's already installed. So now I go to Adobe's site, and find the download link for LR6. And here we go again around in the same circle telling me to download the installer etc., around and around and around. *This* is why I swore I would never use their software again. I'm calling their support line tomorrow, and they had better have a fix for this. I'm' sure they will tell me to spend a couple of hours uninstalling and reinstalling every last bit of their software. One of the main reasons I wanted LR6 is so I could try the HDR merge. But noooooo... --- Okay, after I finished typing this rant, I figure why not try rebooting the computer before I send this. I do that, and everything is fixed, and I'm downloading the new LR right now. This is all great, but it still goes back to Adobe's klutzy software. Why didn't it tell me to reboot? I install *lots* of software, and the ones that need rebooting have installers that tell you that you must reboot. Always. Adobe told me no such thing. I know that there was a time when it was good policy to always reboot after any changes, but we've moved on from there long ago. This ain't Windows 3.1 anymore. Adobe is evil. I swear they are run by Satan himself. |

I installed the CC app when I first subscribed and all has gone smoothly. Surprisingly so, as have all the subsequent updates. It is also possible that the Adobe servers were choking on the traffic. The Kelby severs and the On1 servers had traffic issues with their introductory features/tutorial webcasts. I suggest taking a deep breath and try again after a good night's rest. -- Regards, Savageduck |

LR 6 installed. I clicked on it. Nothing. I tried every possible way to open it. Nothing. So I uninstalled LR5. Still nothing. I uninstalled LR6, and now I'm downloading it again. There were no messages, no warnings, nothing. It just wouldn't open. It's like Adobe has no error handling written into their software. Once again, up at 1 AM trying to sort out computer problems. Thank you, Adobe. |

Thank you, Adobe. Same happened to me on Mac, the splash screen blinked superfast and then nothing. Nothing in the syslog, nothing anywhere. Googled, solution was to sign out of CC and then sign back in. Now it works. Really stupid of Adobe to not check this before launch. -- Sandman |

| Once
| again, up at 1 AM trying to sort out computer problems. Thank you, | Adobe. Maybe you should try installing Flash Player instead. I find I can usually get that done in less than two hours. |

As I responded yesterday, that is sort of what I did when I quit CC and then restarted it, no Google needed. Installed without issues. -- Regards, Savageduck |
