Sony DSC-HX80 Aspect Ratios

This little marvel has a 4:3 native sensor, view screen and finder.

There are 4 selectable aspect ratios, achieved by cutting off some of
the sides or the top and bottom.

correction -

It appears that the cut off areas from the top and bottom for 3:2 is
actually just a single larger cut off at the bottom of the sensor.

The size of this cut off is suspiciously, just a bit less than the cut
offs of 16:9.

I wonder if the camera is taking an approximation short cut for 3:2,
by setting it equal to one of the 9:16 ( ? ) .
