Sodium thiosulfate purchased at a favorable, bulk price is the best thing since the aluminum tripod. It dissolves effortlessly, even if it's lumpy, it stores easily and indefinitely, it has next to no odor (and it's a pleasant odor if you sniff a container of it dissolved in water), plus it's cheap.
