Just ignore it. But I assure you that it would make sense to someone
with the appropriate background who wants to do what he says he wants to
do.

It's not even that much work. Depending on how the MTF data is
specified, I could probably put together a program to do what he wants
in an evening, by modifying a FFT-based "ideal image resizer" that I
already have. But he'll learn a lot more doing it himself.
