Alternatives to the Bayer Pattern

possibilities, even one where a group of *seven* colors,

is the basic unit.

I've noted that some arrangements could be designed to be tolerant of
defective pixels, possibly allowing less-expensive 36 x 24 mm sensors,
so that people could buy digital SLR backs to work with their existing
collections of lenses.

And, inspired by SONY's "emerald" inspiration, now available in the DSC
F828, for greater color acuity, I even note some alternate possibilities
in that area as well.
