Default Is this price real for a 300D?

Hi,

It's probably one more scammer. They put the camera on the website at a very
low price, you order, they tell you to call back to confirm your order, and
suddenly, you have to buy a lot of accessories at ridiculously high price to
get your camera. Don't get trapped. I had some similar experiences and ended
up buying my 300D here in my country (Switzerland), as the difference of
price between real, honest US shops and Swiss ones was almost nonexistent.

There is one way to get real cheap similar devices, it's in Singapore,
either in town or even at the airport, in tax-free shops. I bought a video
camera there for circa half the swiss price. No traps there : real shops,
real sellers, real price, real international warranty, even one more battery
for free !

If by chance your friend does a stop in Singapore, it could be a solution.

Greetings.

Pierre.

Hi,

The usual prices for Canon 300D (Body only) range somewhere between
US$650-$800 depending on the store. However, I found USA Photo Nation
selling it for $549. How's that? Is there a catch? I need to be sure
because I am ordering it from outside the US (having a friend bring it
back to India).

Yes, less than one out of a possible ten. If this doesn't tell you all you
need to know about them, then you surely deserve whatever you get when
ordering from them.

Thanks everyone for alerting me. People at bizrate and other
deal-finders shouldn't list them.

Thanks,

Since my friend isn't coming back until 22nd November, do you think the
300D prices would fall further before Christmas, say somewhere from the
1st week of November?

Thanks,

Siddhartha

Lacking a new camera release in this class, I wouldn't count on it.
Seems like holiday gift buying time will tend to keep prices up at least
until after Jan 1.
