CANADIAN mail order ??
I posted this in one other NG. I hope that's not what is referred to as
cross posting. But anyways..... I'm in a rural area of Canada and my immediate access to equipment dealers is confined to a few low volume price gougers with limited stock. Are there any Canadian alternatives to mail order companies like BHPhoto in the US? I'll also ask if there are any Canadians who are buying from US mail order companies and what your experiences are with GST and broker fees etc. Comparing a few US and Canadian prices for the same equipment I've established that you can add an additional 50% to the US price to arrive at the Canadian price. But I'm not sure if that reflects other costs besides the exchange rate. Can any Canadian with importing experience shed some light? I remember buying Paul C Buff strobes about 15 years ago but that was when we still had the old duties applicable instead of our GST. Ivan |

I'm in the US but I've bought a few items from Henry's in Toronto and their
prices were very good. Maybe the exchange rate though but I would check them out. www.henrys.com "Ivan" wrote in message ... I posted this in one other NG. Check out www.thecamerastore.com in Calgary
Their website isn't the absolute greatest but they are well stocked and ship quick and fast. If you know what you want, get their toll free number from the website and give them a call. I did a google for photo equipment dealers in Canada. This web page looks like an umbrella site for many different ones across Canada. Ivan |
