Default Photoshop vs Paint Shop Pro

I currently have Paint Shop Pro, which is a nice, inexpensive alternative to
Photoshop. However, I'm getting ready to send scanned images to my stock
agency, and they need copyright, embedded ICC profile, adobe RGB colorspace,
etc. Do I need Photoshop CS to add these things, or will the more basic
programs (Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro) do this?

Thanks.

Try news:rec.photo.digital or one of the photoshop related newsgroups.

If you are planning to earn a living doing this do yourself a favor and get
Photoshop CS.
It will allow you to do all the things you mention. There apparently are
legitimate ways to do this without having to shell out for the full priced
version (e.g. buy an older version on E-bay and then the CS upgrade).
Presumably your scanner has a canned ICC profile that came with the drivers
for the unit. Otherwise you will have to learn how to generate one yourself.
which involves a considerable investment in the hardware and software.

They offer rebates to students and university personnel...
You could ask someone to buy it for you.

OT in this NG. See:
A search (press ctrl+f) for the word "digital" on this page reveals that
only those groups with digital in their title are cited as appropriate for
that item. Software is also OT. Look he

Nobody really answered your question yet.

You can add copyright with Paint Shop Pro.
Depending on version, you cannot add embedded ICC profile with PSP.
Choosing Adobe RGB colorspace is something that must be done at scan time.
Once you have chosen sRGB, you've already lost the extra color gamut
that Adobe RGB would have provided. So switching now accomplishes nothing
except to make your stock agency pretend they're happy.
