My Konica gear has a rubber roller on the wind side (the internal
motor models) so I've been leaving the end square cut. This gets both sides hooked on the sprocket wheel and saves trimming the ends. I keep my cassettes cleaned and don't rewind into the cassette. This way I can simply load the processing reels directly from the cassette in my changing bag. I've never had any scratching after a couple of decades of this practice and it saves retrieving all of the pieces in the changing bag, too. For the cameras that need a leader I just eye ball it. At worse a person could grab a factory loaded roll and use that for a template but I've never made my leaders that exact.
