Default 180mm lens suggestions.

I am looking to buy a 180mm lens for my MPP MK VIII camera and I am
considering buying second-hand a Schneider Symmar-S either APO or non APO or
the Rodenstock Sironar-S equivalents.
Does any one use a lens of this type who could tell me how well they
perform? I will be using the camera & lens combination mostly for B&W
photography.

I'm impressed with the results I've had with my 150mm f5.6 Sironar-N MC on
my MPP MK VI (Provia 100F), and I think the "S" version is supposed to be a
bit better as well as having better coverage. I also have an older
Schneider Super Angulon 90mm f8 which hasn't disappointed. Detail on the
transparencies is excellent, and 20 x 16 prints are OK. (However, the
lenses I bought with the camera, 1950s Xenar & Tele-Xenar, made me wonder
why people bothered with LF!)

Biggest problem I found was getting a stable tripod and smoothly operating
head. Ended up with a Manfrotto #115 on a Benbo Mk 1 - and a granny
shopping trolley to cart it around.

Have you checked out the LF fora? Plenty of detailed lens info below:
