Do you have to send it back to the states for service, or does Mack have facilities overseas (UK in your case, I assume)? Phil Craig wrote: I bought from the states, have a Mack and all is fine. Saved £200. I believe canon minolta and pentax US built cameras do not have a certain exposure compensation display as the idea is protected by some US law and rather than pay a royalty they exclude it. However, outside the US this problem doesn't apply. Seems unlikely in the case of the Digital Rebel. The manual says it is for the Digital Rebel and the 300D on the cover. Phil |

However, outside the US this problem doesn't apply. This actually means that european cameras are sometimes marked as 'not for sale in the usa'. I have personally seen this on the pentax ist packaging. I don't know *why* the 'not for sale' wording is there but on the issue of exp compensation, a Minolta will display it on the exp meter in a split mode. (One LED for selected exposure, one LED for where the expo would be if not compensated. In A/S modes, a "correct" exposure would simply show the comensation). -- --e-meil: there's no such thing as a FreeLunch.-- |
