Selling photos for money?
Jack,
You've asked the big question, haven't you? Do a lot of research first is the first rule. I would not necessarily recommend selling through a stock agency to start with. Considering that you are new to the biz, you won't get a fair deal....just how it is if you do not have the business experience. John Shaw has published a really good book on getting started (you can find it at Amazon.com) and I think Art Wolfe and William O'Neill have as well. the Photographer's Market is a good resource book too. There are plenty of issues to research before you get started...legal, financial, copyright, fair pricing (never lowball the market to get a sale), etc., etc. It's not impossible; I just recommend you do some reading and planning first. Oh...and you'll need at least 5,000 high-quality images in your library to start. Go get 'em and best of luck! Hello, Can anyone share their experiences of selling their photos? For example, have you sold some of your photos to a company like Getty Images? How well does it pay? Do you have any regrets? Could you recommend a good way for a freelance photographer (based in London) to make some extra cash by selling a few images?
