The D100 is down the road, get a D80 or D40.
Or a D200.

i have one with a lens or two that i might be interested in selling. look up
the camera at dpreview.com, or steve's digital. it's a very nice, versatile
camera, and a great introduction to the world of dslrs.

The D100 is down the road, get a D80 or D40.
Or a D200.

The next in the Nikon numbering system for that camera series would be the
D300.

I am waiting, patiently for the end of this week to see if anything gets
announced and how it will affect my next purchase decision. At this
point leaning towards the D200.

Probably not worth waiting. The D40x supposedly has 10.2 megapixels, and
there might be a D3 with a 34mm sensor, but that is about it. Not sure why
the D3 would have a slightly smaller than 35mm sensor, unless it is to avoid
the vignetting problems that have plagued the Canon line. Of course, those
who are using sensor size to compensate for something will think it is an
issue. :-)
