There's enough newsgroup spamming going on without you trying to sell your
books in a every group with photo in its name, many of which clearly
forbiding commercial advertisments.

All you are doing now is damaging the Usenet experience of others as you try
to profit from your venture. When you posted individule photos of your
trip - photographed (according to you) with a film camera there may have
been some merit but now it's all just an attempt by you to sell goods for a
profit... And in a digital group too!

Douglas if I ever an lucky enough to travel like Heslenfeld or produce
photographs of his artistry and quality I would be proud to make a
book and post it here. Mr Heslenfeld and his work certainly merits a
place in this newsgroup.
If you haven't seen his photographs you are missing something
wonderful.

Quite to opposite Frank.
I enjoy seeing his photo. I just object to him trying to sell a book in
these groups when the charter of them specifically prohibits such activity.
If you can't see the difference, you deserver to be bombarded with
everything from fake Nike to photo books.

There is no distinction between the type of goods on sale, only that you
shouldn't try and sell GOODS in these groups. I said nothing about the merit
or otherwise of his photography, just his method of trying to sell goods in
a recreational group forbidding such practices.

You're a little late. "Cold" is the title of a book by Laurence McKinley
Gould, who explored Antarctica with Admiral Richard E. Byrd almost eighty
years ago.

You're kidding, right? How ironic that you are complaining about
"damaging the Usenet experience" considering the effect your flame wars
have had in the rec.photo groups.

Actually you need to re-assess that statement THO. It is "My defence" of
someone who thought they could somehow get an advantage over me by engaging
in criminal activity... It's not a flame war.

Eventually it will not have damaged Usenet but proven that when authorities
responsible for policing theft of copyright, Identity theft and other
on-line activates that do damage a community in general don't take action,
eventually it will reach a level where they have to.

It is terribly unfortunate that this upsets subscribers to the groups but
seriously THO... If he is allowed to do as he pleases and use pornography
pasted over a Pro's images as well as commit fraud when setting up sites to
post his attacks to, who is to say anyone is safe from such behaviour?

If you engage me in a discussion about photography and/or printing, you'll
get polite and responsible replies. If you steal my images, defame my
clients and use my identity fraudulently... You'll be treated the same way
he is.

Only in your mind is "ethical" concern about Heslenfeld's book.
Your bitching here is distasteful, unneccessary and of no help to
furthering
the aims and efforts of the newsgroup users here. Who else but you is
complaining about Heslenfeld's book?

FYI and anyone else who thinks there are gray shades to black and white,
including Heslenfeld who has been posting to newsgroups long enough to know
they each have a charter and he chose to ignor it... A far too frequent
event.

Exert from the charter of this group, available he
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/36...igital-systems

What Is Not Permitted:

This newsgroup explicitly prohibits the posting of advertisements of any
kind, whether personal, private or commercial, as well as all other
promotional material, whether or not it is in any way related to
photography.

Is that clear enough for your Frank or do I need to break it down further
for you?

Douglas

You must be really dense not to grasp the message from this newsgroup
readers.
They would rather see Heslenfeld's images or story about his book then
read
your reading of the rules and regulations.
In short. Is Douglas contributing more to the newsgroup or
T.Heslenfeld?
