GOOD NEWS. Canon just told me that they are indeed sending me as a
replacement a G7X Mark II. Canon replacements in the past have been either
new or pristine refurbished.

you should have asked for a canon 1ds mark iv.

Thanks, but that Canon body alone costs more than double the price of a G7X
Mark II,

that's the whole point.

and it will not fit into my pocket.

Canon did not offer to "give" me that super-expensive camera, for after all, my original camera was only an S-120. Let's be realistic now.

Hi,

I received the replacement G7X Mark II, marked refurbished. It is pristine, including the black screw heads. (Refurbished is not necessarily used or repaired, but also can mean surplus stock, or returns from customers. In any event, it works like a charm. Although it took a while, I am grateful to Canon for ultimately doing the right thing for me. I will continue to be a Canon customer.
